Taylor Isabelle (day 3)

Taylor continues to make progress as the Lord continues to sustain Taylor life and gives us grace and strength to get through each day as He promises.

Throughout the day yesterday the nurses and doctors continued to lower the amount of oxygen Taylor was receiving through her vent and were eventually able to remove the vent and replace it with a CPAP machine(Continuous positive airway pressure), which is much more comfortable for her.  We were able to hear her cry for the first time since her vent is out – what a beautiful sound it was. They are slowly weaning her blood pressure medicines and she is reacting well to that. They were also able to take out her catheter today and her kidneys seem to be working well.

We praise the Lord for the mighty work He is doing in Taylor’s life and continue to ask for prayer for her healing.

Taylor Update (day 2)

We praise the Lord for His work in Taylor’s life. She is still considered very critical, but the doctors and nurses have continued make progress in stabilizing her.

Taylor weighed 9lbs. 6oz. at birth and after continuous removal of fluids, she was weighing 6lbs 6oz.!! She looks so much better, but there is a need to keep fluid production under control. They are using two chest tubes (one on the left side and one on the right side) and one abdomen tube on the right side to continue draining fluid.

Taylor is still using a vent to breathe, but they have been slowing weaning her vent settings.

The doctors continue to be concerned with her blood pressure and she is currently on two medications to keep her blood pressure up and a good level.

Taylor started out in the world so compromised because of not having a heart rate for 4 minutes, that there was real concern about brain activity. The doctors have added a brainz monitor to the many other wires and tubes she is hooked up to. So far her everything looks normal. This was very encouraging!!

Taylor’s Story (day 1)

Taylor Isabelle Basch was born on Wednesday, October 29th at 4:17pm by emergency c-section. She was immediately handed to a team from Sparrow’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), who began resuscitation immediately.

Taylor’s heart did not start beating on its own until 4 minutes had passed. She was incubated immediately and received constant oxygen during her resuscitation. The NICU team of 8-10 doctors and nurses (estimated) worked to stabilize Taylor for over 15 minutes (Mom and Dad had no indication during this time whether Taylor was alive or not).

During this time, Mom was still undergoing surgery while Dad plead for the life of their daughter in prayer. “Lord Jesus, Son of the Living God, have mercy on her. Give her life, give her breath.” After the longest and worst 15 minutes of their lives, the sea of doctors and nurses parted and briefly showed Taylor to Mom and Dad and indicated that she was stable enough to be transported two floors up to the RNICU. She was quite blue and had not yet cried…

MORE TO COME SOON WHEN DADDY HAS MORE TIME. PLEASE PRAY FOR TAYLOR…
